How to burn bakhoor

1. Light a charcoal disc with tongs until it glows evenly (about a minute) and place it in a heat-proof bakhoor burner (mabkhara).
2. Wait a minute or two for the charcoal to turn grey, then place a small piece of bakhoor on top.
3. Let the fragrant smoke drift through the room. Add another small piece for a stronger scent.

An electric bakhoor burner also works: place a small piece on the heating plate. Reseal the box after use to keep the bakhoor moist and fragrant.
