Vaccination Service · Leyton, London

Meningitis B (Men B) vaccination service in Leyton

The Men B vaccine protects against meningococcal group B bacteria — a leading cause of bacterial meningitis and septicaemia in the UK. The NHS began vaccinating babies against meningitis B in September 2015 — which means many older children, teenagers and students never received it. Our pharmacist-led clinic offers the Men B course privately, with friendly advice and appointments that fit around school and work.

  • Pharmacist-led consultation and vaccination in one visit
  • Ideal for children, teens and students who missed the NHS infant programme
  • Book online, call, or walk in — evenings and weekends available

Good to know

Frequently asked questions

Who should consider the Men B vaccine?
Anyone who missed the NHS infant programme — which began for babies in September 2015 — including older children, teenagers and university students. Our pharmacist will advise whether the course is appropriate for your family.
How many doses are needed?
For most people over two years old the course is two doses, given at least eight weeks apart. Schedules differ for younger children, so your pharmacist will confirm the right plan at your consultation.
Is Men B the same as the meningitis vaccine given at school?
No. Teenagers are routinely offered MenACWY at school, which protects against groups A, C, W and Y. Men B protects against group B — a separate vaccine that is not part of the routine teenage programme.
Did my child already receive it on the NHS?
Babies born from mid-2015 onwards have been offered Men B at 8 weeks, 16 weeks and one year. Children born earlier generally missed it. Bring your child's red book or NHS record and we'll check for you.
Are there side effects?
Most side effects are mild and short-lived — commonly a sore arm, and in younger children a temporary fever. Your pharmacist explains what to expect and provides clear aftercare advice at your appointment.
Do I need an appointment?
Booking online guarantees your consultation time, but you're welcome to walk in or call 0208 556 4292 and we'll fit you in where clinic availability allows.
